Observing a desert for the first time you cannot be numb, indifferent, but rather be shocked or intrigued by this environment so unusual and so distant from what we know.
At the origin of the name desert there is the Latin word desertum literally "thing abandoned”. What in Middle English and gradually has today become the sense of a "waterless, treeless region of considerable extent".
In any empty desert and inside this absence of many things, subjects, or elements there is much more than what we can see only through our eyes. There is a huge metaphor of the Life, of the entire Universe, and an alert regarding our destiny if we don't change the way we life.
It is precisely this invisible and metaphoric part of this Natural world, apparently only made of sand and dunes, that was decided to research and describe in this photographic project titled desARTification.
If science makes use of formulas to describe something of complex, in the same way to tell the desert and its mysteries, beauties, harshness, ruthlessness, its climatic causes and the physics hidden in the shape of dunes, is necessary to use a really wide language, richer of notes and nuances more than words can say.
Fine art photography allows to achieve all this, because these kind of photographs are made as pure images, created through a long aesthetic research and deepen study of the subject, then a high quality of print afther the shooting with refined techniques and precious materials to last over time.
These series of Black and White works were created in order to lead us to reflect on the need to be aware of the natural environment around us and making choices that benefit Mother Earth.
Last but not least, all the photographs cataloged and exhibited in this website are available on demand for collectors, exhibitions and collections as Giclée prints and Platinum - Palladium prints, in limited edition.
